My name is Vic (she/they) and I will be your counsellor at The Sanctuary.

I started The Sanctuary when I qualified as a counsellor. I wanted to provide a service that was female, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent owned and led – and proudly so. My goal with The Sanctuary is to offer a safe, accessible and inclusive space to talk with a qualified therapist who has lived experience of what it is like to be part of often-ostracised communities. You don't have to be LGBTQ+ or neurospicy to work with me, but you're absolutely welcome, seen and accepted if you are.

There are only two things that you need to bring with you when you visit The Sanctuary: yourself and your truth. Show up with your whole self and let me take care of the rest.

What Is Person-Centred Counselling?

There are lots of different kinds of therapy, and different therapists work in different ways. I have been trained in a therapeutic approach called
person-centred therapy. Put simply, this method of therapy believes that
you are the expert in you.

I believe that you know yourself best. I do not provide advice and I cannot ‘fix’ you; you are not broken. I will work with you to find solutions by using a range of techniques to draw the answers from you, so that you can make the changes in your life that you want to make at your own pace and in a way that best serves you.

I provide both short and long-term therapy, and we can discuss the planned duration of our work together during our first session. For longer-term work, we will also review this regularly throughout your counselling journey.

What Is Integrative Therapy?

I also offer an integrative approach to therapy for clients who prefer a more directional, practical or holistic approach.

I draw on my training in DBT and trauma therapy, and from my experience of working with dozens of individuals with ADHD, Autism, AuDHD and PMDD, to approach your current situation from a holistic standpoint. I'll work with you to generate an action plan that understands where you are right now, what tools you're working with, and what you're aiming to achieve.

We'll look at your trauma responses, neurobiology, sleep hygiene, gut health, menstrual health (if applicable) and support system to tailor a practical route through burnout, meltdowns or living with anxiety or depression that feels achievable for you. Something that sees you as you are, meets you where you're at but also teaches you how to move towards a life where regulation, self-soothing, self-compassion and peace are independently achievable.
